Meet Mag, from SMHS Innovation!

This year, Mag and her family are participating in the HBF Run for a Reason this year, and have chosen to make Pulse their reason.

When we sat down to speak to Mag about why she has chosen to run this year, this is what she had to say:

“I signed up for the HBF Run for a reason to support Pulse because it’s a cause that feels genuinely close to home. I work at South Metropolitan Health Service alongside clinicians, carers and consumers every day, trying to improve healthcare one step at a time. Supporting Pulse feels like another way to do exactly that, but for our own community.”

Pulse matters to me because I see how much passion, effort and care go into innovative ideas and research, and how often good ideas don’t get the chance they deserve due to funding or system barriers.

Pulse represents hope, that we can keep pushing forward with options, advice and support when innovation gets hard or stalls. By backing Pulse, we’re backing the people behind the ideas and the patients and communities who ultimately benefit.

This will also be my first ever run and it’s a 12 km one. I’ve never run more than a couple of kilometres without stopping, so signing up has been a huge personal challenge. I’ve been training with my partner, taking it one step at a time, and I’m really proud that my first run is for a cause I truly care about.”

When asked if she had a message to colleagues thinking of joining, Mag said:

“If you’re thinking about joining Team Pulse or supporting the foundation in your own way, I’d strongly encourage it. Whether you’re running, walking, donating or cheering from the sidelines, it all makes a difference. We can’t improve healthcare without first supporting the people and ideas behind it, and that starts with us.

We’ll be there on 24 May, and I hope others will join us too.”
