When Sarah from Fremantle Hospital purchased 10 tickets in the Staff Lottery, it wasn’t just about the chance to win.

At first, she admits the prize money caught her eye:

“I saw emails about the lottery and thought, ‘Wow, I only work part time… $1000 would go a long way for me.’

But after learning more about Pulse South Metro Foundation and its role in supporting patients, staff and health initiatives across SMHS, her motivation changed:

“I wanted to give more. Not because I wanted to win, but because I wanted to support a foundation that’s working to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.’

As a public health professional, giving back is something Sarah feels strongly about:

“Supporting the health service is my life’s mission. If I can make a difference in one person’s life, I have fulfilled my mission. I do whatever I can to support the people who work tirelessly to keep my community healthy.”

For Sarah, the Staff Lottery is a simple way to contribute while also having a bit of fun. She believes that when lots of people make small contributions, the impact can be significant.

“What you give is more than what you lose in the process, no matter how big or small. A little can definitely go a long way and if we all participated in the staff lottery, we could make a big difference in fundraising towards better health outcomes for our patients and ourselves.”
