The Pulse South Metro Health Foundation is delighted to announced that world renowned burns expert and former Australian of the Year, Fiona Wood, has joined the foundation as an Ambassador.
Pulse was formally launched as the first dedicated charitable foundation for the South Metropolitan Health Service which operates the Fiona Stanley, Fremantle, Rockingham and Peel public hospitals. The Foundation seeks to raise funds to improve health outcomes across Perth’s southern corridor.
To help us champion this mission, we will be teaming up with some incredible leaders who share our passion for community-driven change.
Professor Fiona Wood AM, a pioneer in medical research and with an impeccable record of clinical achievements, has joined Pulse as the first of our Ambassadors. Professor Wood is globally recognised as a leader in burns medicine and reconstructive surgery. Beyond her clinical achievements, Professor Wood is a passionate advocate for health equity, education, and community-led reform. Her lifelong dedication to improving care for all Western Australians makes her an ideal ambassador for Pulse.
As a Pulse Ambassador, Professor Wood brings not only her expertise and insight, but also a deep commitment to inclusive health care. Her support helps ensure that community voices remain central to how we innovate, invest, and grow.
When asked why she chose to become a Pulse Ambassador, Professor Wood shared:
“I believe in helping everyone to join the research journey as a donor, volunteer, clinician, patient, carer and researcher, together we will build the future health care that we are all proud of, the Pulse foundation is key in bringing us all together.”
