Pulse ambassador series: Meet Professor Dickon Hayne

Following the inspiring introduction of Professor Fiona Wood AM as our inaugural Pulse Ambassador, we’re thrilled to welcome another powerhouse in health leadership – Professor Dickon Hayne

A nationally recognised urological surgeon and researcher, Professor Hayne is Head of Urology at South Metropolitan Health Service and Professor of Surgery at UWA. His career has been defined by a relentless drive to improve cancer care, particularly in complex urologic cancers like bladder cancer, where he leads cutting-edge research on both national and international fronts.

But Professor Hayne’s influence reaches far beyond the clinic and lab. He’s a fierce advocate for health equity, working tirelessly to bring specialist care and clinical trials to regional and underserved communities. His approach is rooted in compassion, evidence, and empowerment – ensuring every patient is informed, supported, and actively involved in their care.

As a Pulse Ambassador, Professor Hayne brings not only deep clinical and academic expertise, but also a bold, inclusive vision for community-led health care. His voice strengthens our mission to improve outcomes across Perth’s southern corridor and keeps people at the centre of everything we do.

Stay tuned – more inspiring Ambassadors are on the way, each helping shape the future of health care in WA.

When asked why he joined Pulse, Professor Hayne shared:

‘I was delighted and humbled to be asked to join Pulse as an ambassador and to support this exciting new organisation to improve health outcomes throughout Perth’s southern corridor’

Stay tuned for the final ambassador introductions coming soon. We can’t wait to share their stories with you!
